May 1st Candlelight Vigil for Palestine at Dartmouth 05/01/25

Show Details

On the evening of May 1st about 70 people gathered on the grounds of Parkhurst Hall, Dartmouth College's main administration building, to hold a candlelight vigil for Palestine. Events of the day, which came exactly one year after a large rally for Palestine that resulted in the arrest of 89 people, included an art build, divestment proposal read-in, a rally on the Green that drew about 100 people, a film screening and the candlelight vigil. Organizers hoped to put pressure on the college to divest funds from companies that aid in the Israeli occupation of Gaza and to keep ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) off of the campus. The college agreed to require that ICE agents need to obtain a judicial warrant prior to agents entering nonpublic spaces.
