Indigenous History of Lacrosse: An Evening with Oren and Rex Lyons 4/27/22

Oren Lyons, 92-year old Faith Keeper for the Turtle Clan of the Onondaga Nation in the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy. Chief Lyons will be accompanied by his son, Rex, a former player and Board Member of the Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse Team and President of the Iroquois Nationals Development Group, a non-profit created as the operating arm of the Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse Board of Directors. Rex has been a leader in the effort to include lacrosse in the Olympics. Oren and Rex will speak about lacrosse, the medicine game of the Iroquois. But in so doing, they will be talking about the history, culture and cosmology of the Haudenosaunee, the relationship between indigenous peoples and colonizers, human rights, environmental protection and the future of the planet.
