Description The Greatest Show on Earth - The Road to the White House - In Person - With Maynard Goldman The 2024 election will be one for the ages. Whether we see a battle of octogenarians or the emergence of younger players at the moment relatively unknown, you can be assured that this will be a no-holds-barred race with all the inevitable gaffes, scandals, accusations, lies, and unpredictable—perhaps unimaginable (at least right now)—twists and turns as candidates attempt to claw their way to the Oval Office. In this course—the first of several that will lead us through the actual election—we’ll take an early look at the field and the issues likely to dominate the race: Ukraine, abortion rights, the economy, immigration, changes to the primary schedule, and many others. Our goal is not to support one party or candidate over another but to analyze the process, the players and their supporting casts, and the strategies employed on the path to power. This will be the third time this set of courses on Presidential elections has been offered. We didn’t think it could get much crazier than 2016, but look what’s happened since. Modern presidential elections look less like a horse race or roller-coaster ride than a 90 mph drive down a six-lane freeway.
